Why Physical Activity Is Important For Children

Introducing physical activity to children and a young age is key to ensuring they live a healthy lifestyle, now and later in life.
Not only does it help youngsters to maintain or reach a healthy weight thereby reducing childhood obesity, exercise also aids in the development of strong bones and muscles.
Physical activity is known to boost the production of endorphins, which are natural mood lifters, helping to reduce the feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. While regular exercise can also improve sleep patterns, which is vital for children’s growth and cognitive function.
As well as all the health-related benefits that physical activity brings, it can also teach children about cooperation, communication and leadership, helping them develop their interpersonal skills.
Research also indicates that children who are active tend to perform better academically.
It’s therefore vitally important that we incorporate sport and exercise into the daily lives of our children and young people, helping them establish healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
Thankfully our Dill Road facility features a large games hall, which means we can make sure our children and young people are active on a regular basis, whether that’s by playing football, badminton or basketball, or whizzing about on their scooters.
