Early Years Summer Fun Club 2026

This July, our free two-week Summer Fun Club welcomed children aged 2–5 into a safe and caring environment where they could play, explore, and build new friendships. Each day offered a lively mix of activities that supported creativity, movement, confidence, and social development. From arts and crafts and supervised bouncy castle play to guided bug hunts, children had plenty of opportunities to try something new and discover the world around them.

A standout special event was a Pirate session delivered by Mission Enchanted, during which children dressed up and engaged in role-play and cooperative storytelling. This experience particularly supported imaginative play, turn-taking, and group confidence. Across the program, staff observed children trying new experiences for the first time, demonstrating increased attention, pride in accomplishments, and greater willingness to interact with peers.

The Summer Fun Club gave local families access to free, reliable childcare activities in a safe and supervised setting, helping to ease the financial and practical pressures of the summer holidays. Providing every child with a nutritious daily meal offered further support while ensuring they could take part fully.

Parents reported that the service has been an amazing source of support for their families and expressed how grateful they were for the care, activities, and opportunities provided to their children. They particularly valued seeing their children build confidence, friendships, and social skills through new experiences. By bringing parents and caregivers together and connecting them with local services, the programme also strengthened relationships between families and helped build a more connected community.

The two-week Summer Fun Club demonstrated that a short programme can have immeasurable benefits for young children’s social and developmental growth while providing meaningful practical support to families. The positive responses from children and parents indicate a strong foundation for expanding future sessions to reach more families and continue offering enriching, safe, and nourishing experiences for our youngest community members.
